Day Off, GMA News TV’s long-running reality show, is celebrating 12 years of recognizing the most-deserving and hardworking Filipinos here and abroad. And what better way to mark this occasion than by going to what is considered the “Heart of Asia”—Taiwan!

But instead of treating other people, Day Off decided to throw a surprise treat to its hosts Ken Chan and Janine Gutierrez. After more than a year of alternately switching with the show’s weekly winners, Ken and Janine will receive “a dose of reward” from Day Off this Saturday (February 10).

The two are caught off guard when they find out that they are this week’s Day Off winners.

“Sobrang busy kami ni Janine sa Pilipinas dahil sa mga trabaho namin. Parang ngayon lang ulit kami nakapag-break,” shares Ken.

“Nakaka-touch, nakakagulat. Sobrang happy lang ‘yung feeling talaga tsaka sobrang thankful,” says Janine of the program’s surprise to her and Ken.

Joining Ken and Janine in their “#travelgoal” is segment host Maey Bautista. “Walang inatrasan at parehong palaban [sina Ken at Janine] sa kanilang pagrerelyebo sa trabaho ng ating Day Off winners. Sa aming espesyal na selebrasyon ngayong taon, ang nagbibigay ng Day Off, deserving din magkaroon ng day off,” says Maey.

The three get to relax in the Private Hot Spring and visit the Beitou Thermal Valley amid its 85 to 95 degrees Celsius temperature. The Day Off team also marvels at the rock formations in Yehliu Geopark.

In Taipei, Ken and Janine explore the Tallest Green Building in the World—the Taipei 101. Together with Maey, find out what the Day Off hosts will discover in the observatory deck.

Meanwhile in Shifen Old Street, the group tries the famous tradition of launching sky lanterns. Each host writes a special message on the sky lantern.

The Day Off hosts also get a dose of Taiwan history as they visit the Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall and witness the famous changing of guards. An exciting dining experience awaits them in Modern Toilet.
And even if they are the ones on vacation, Ken, Maey, and Janine will not pass up the opportunity to get to know some of the Overseas Filipino Workers living in Taiwan. They even ask their help in buying souvenir items in Ximending Night Market.
